The Hurricanes lost some wide-receiver depth on Monday.
Rising fourth-year redshirt sophomore Mykel Tubbs announced on his Twitter account that he was entering the transfer portal.
Tubbs, an Atlanta native, had been deep on the UM depth chart since arriving in Coral Gables in 2019. He did not record a catch in a game but contributed on the team’s practice squad and played in 10 games last season.
He had two catches for 11 yards in the spring game, according to 247Sports.
Tubbs is the sixth Miami payer to depart since the 2021 season ended, joining offensive lineman Corey Gaynor, kicker Camden Price, defensive lineman Nesta Jade Silvera, tight end Larry Hodges, linebacker Tirek Austin-Cave and running back Cody Brown.
