CORAL GABLES — Many of the Hurricanes’ new transfer arrivals came to Coral Gables from across the country, but for cornerback Daryl Porter Jr., joining the Hurricanes was a homecoming.
Porter, who arrived at Miami after leaving West Virginia, is a South Florida native whose two-year stint with the Mountaineers eventually led him back to South Florida.
“Happy to be home,” Porter said. ”Family’s here. Everybody’s here. Home-cooked meals. I’m just happy. ... It was a combination of everything. I haven’t seen family in probably two years, so I feel like this is a big step for me to come back home.
