coral gables — On a day full of thunderstorms and rain delays that threatened to once again derail the Coral Gables regional, the UM baseball team brought some lightning of its own as they stormed back to beat Canisius 11-6 in its NCAA Tournament opener.
The Hurricanes (40-18) rode the long ball Saturday at Mark Light Field, hitting four homers, three courtesy of Yohandy Morales who is up to 17 for the year. His seventh-inning two-run shot gave Miami its first lead of the game, a lead it would never relinquish.
Morales became the first UM player to have a three-home run game in the postseason since Scott Lawson against Texas A&M in 2010.
