Despite the final score on Saturday, some aspects of the Hurricanes’ performance against Texas A&M were good enough to win.
Miami’s offensive line cleared the way for its running backs and kept quarterback Tyler Van Dyke from getting sacked. The defensive line prevented the Aggies’ blockers from saying the same, as UM’s defenders frequently penetrated Texas A&M’s backfield.
“It shows progress,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. “We think they’re a really good offensive line, they’re a really good defensive line. We wanted to establish the run and protect the quarterback. Our quarterback got hit five times but didn’t get sacked.
