For the Miami Hurricanes, the past 72 hours have been emotional and Tuesday morning, they were dealt with tragedy after the team learned of the death of Dana Smith, the mother of cornerback Artie Burns.
Burns was not at practice Tuesday morning, but he wasn’t far from the thoughts of his teammates and coaches, who started their workout with a moment of prayer.
“Obviously, it hit our team and our kids pretty hard,” said Larry Scott, who was named Miami’s interim coach in the wake of Al Golden’s dismissal on Sunday. “She’s always been awesome with all of our guys.
