Already once this season, the Hurricanes — who have dreams of again hosting NCAA Tournament play on their home floor this spring — have come up short against an unranked ACC opponent.
And so, with Miami’s women’s basketball team hosting a gritty Boston College team with a sub-.500 record in conference play, Hurricanes coach Katie Meier had a message for her players — don’t let this one get away.
The Hurricanes took that to heart.
While Miami struggled with its shooting from the field, the Hurricanes capitalized at the free throw line and made some key defensive stops late to clinch a hard-fought 76-73 win over Boston College in a Sunday afternoon game at the Watsco Center that featured 18 lead changes and 17 ties.
