While Hurricanes coach Al Golden has touted this team’s defense as being the deepest he’s had in his tenure at Miami, there is one position group that doesn’t have as many experienced players as the rest of that unit. This weekend, that group took a hit when Golden announced that starting outside linebacker Darrion Owens was lost for the season with a right knee injury sustained in Miami’s 44-20 win over FAU.
Golden declined to comment on the specific nature of Owens’ injury, citing his desire to respect the player’s privacy, but he did confirm that the sophomore out of Orange Park will undergo surgery within the next 10 days.
