Unlike the other two Miami football players to announce they’re entrance into the draft, defensive ends Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche, Borregales said in his Twitter announcement that he will be participating in UM’s Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma State on Dec. 29.
“I’m ready and excited for what’s to come in the future,” Borregales tweeted, “but first, let’s go out with a bang.”
On Tuesday, Borregales was named first-team All-ACC kicker and one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award for the nation’s top college kicker. He made 18 of 20 field goals for Miami with a long of 57 yards, plus all 35 of his extra-point attempts.
