Hurricanes’ John Campbell Jr. gets starting opportunity after battling back from serious knee injury

CORAL GABLES — It has been more than 20 months since John Campbell Jr. last lined up for the Miami Hurricanes after suffering a torn ACL before the 2021 season.

After missing all of the 2021 campaign, the fifth-year junior has an opportunity to return to Miami’s starting offensive line. With starting left tackle Zion Nelson still held out of fall camp after offseason surgery, Campbell has slotted into Nelson’s left-tackle role.

“I feel like it’s a good opportunity,” Campbell said. “Yeah, I was out last year, but I felt like last year just made me stronger as a person.
