CORAL GABLES — The Miami Hurricanes opened their season with an 83-51 win over Maryland Eastern Shore at the Watsco Center on Monday, but they were missing their coach.
Coach Katie Meier served the first game of a three-contest suspension while the NCAA conducts a “review [of] an enforcement matter.” But for the Hurricanes, it was business as usual.
“I felt everything was normal,” sophomore Ja’Leah Williams said.
Meier, who has been Miami’s coach since 2005, said in a statement Sunday that she will “collaborate transparently” with the NCAA review.
