Deerfield Beach coach Jevon Glenn knew that if the Miami offer came, James Pierre would accept it – quickly. And Monday afternoon, that’s exactly what happened.
The Hurricanes, who have made an aggressive push to try and keep some of South Florida’s top high school football players home in 2016, offered Pierre a scholarship and the safety verbally committed not long after, choosing Miami despite interest from several schools including Cincinnati, Bowling Green, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, FIU, and Mississippi State.
And Glenn – the Bucks’ first-year coach – expects the commitment will stick, though National Signing Day remains more than nine months away.
