There was a point on Thursday morning, as the Hurricanes wrapped up one of their final practices ahead of a key Coastal Division showdown with Virginia, where Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz pointed up, toward the rafters in the new Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility and asked his players which one of them could add their names to the greats recognized above.
While Diaz, Jackson and the rest of the Hurricanes have had the opportunity to practice inside Miami’s new $40 million facility a handful of times since construction on the field portion of the building wrapped up in August, it was on Thursday afternoon that the building was formally dedicated, with donors and members of the Miami community alike getting their first real look at the new jewel of the Hurricanes’ athletic program.
