With one week left in the regular season, the Hurricanes dipped in the latest Associated Press poll.
Miami (23-6, 14-5 ACC) fell three spots to No. 16 in Monday’s rankings, following a heartbreaking last-second home loss to rival Florida State on Saturday.
The Hurricanes led the Seminoles by 25 points early in the second half, but FSU staged a furious comeback. Miami’s Jordan Miller hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 4.9 seconds left, but FSU’s Matthew Cleveland sank a 35-foot running three at the buzzer to give the Seminoles a dramatic 85-84 win.
The loss was the Hurricanes’ first defeat at home this season and ended Miami’s seven-game winning streak.
