As No. 10 Miami begins preparations for Saturday’s game against third-ranked Notre Dame, one of the Hurricanes top defensive players is scheduled to have surgery Monday afternoon.
According to UM, redshirt junior defensive end Demetrius Jackson injured a “lower right extremity” in the Hurricanes’ 28-10 win over Virginia Tech this weekend and the surgery will take place at the UHealth Sports Medicine Institute at the Lennar Foundation Medical Center on Miami’s campus. A source told the Sun Sentinel that Jackson injured his knee.
His status for the remainder of the season will be determined after surgery.
