Hurricanes coach Manny Diaz makes changes to UM recruiting department

Less than 72 hours after National Signing Day capped the 2019 recruiting cycle, Hurricanes coach Manny Diaz has dismissed several recruiting staffers.

Among those let go was Matt Doherty, Miami’s director of player personnel, multiple sources confirmed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Friday. Also let go were Chip Francoforte, the assistant director of player personnel and Jarrod Kilburn, Miami’s recruiting coordinator.

Doherty, a Miami alum, joined former coach Mark Richt’s staff in 2016 after a one-year stint as Jim Harbaugh’s recruiting coordinator at Michigan. Before his time in Ann Arbor, Doherty — who was one of several Hurricanes staffers made available to reporters on Wednesday after Miami announced its recruiting class — served as the director of player personnel and coordinator of football operations for another former Hurricanes coach, Al Golden.
