The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team will begin an eight-week offseason skill development program next week in the midst of ample roster turnover since the end of its season.
Five UM scholarship players on the roster at some point last season transferred out. Meanwhile, two transfers are coming in, and the team is expecting to bring in a freshman recruiting class of three with two already signed. Two other players are testing NBA waters, entering the draft with an option to retain college eligibility and return to the Hurricanes.
“I look at college basketball now, from a coach’s standpoint, it’s like a game of poker where you reshuffle the deck after every season,” UM coach Jim Larrañaga said in a Friday afternoon web conference with reporters.
