CORAL GABLES — Hurricanes guard Nijel Pack struggled to hit his shots early in the game against Rutgers. He missed all five of the shots he took, including his three three-point attempts.
Miami coach Jim Larrañaga told him to keep shooting.
Pack had the ball in his hands with the clock winding down in the second half and the Hurricanes up by two points. The first-year Hurricane, who transferred from Kansas State, held the ball as the shot clock ticked away before draining a three-pointer to seal a 68-61 victory over Rutgers at the Watsco Center on Thursday night.
