DJ Ivey has been a consistent presence in the Hurricanes’ secondary since his sophomore year in 2019. But with Mario Cristobal, a new staff and a group of new cornerbacks arriving this offseason, the fifth-year senior needed to show what the new coaches what he could do.
The veteran cornerback impressed the staff in practices, and their trust in him paid off as he proved to be a defensive star last week and helped Miami stick with Texas A&M in what ended up a 17-9 loss.
“We were excited just watching his level of commitment to the program, the way he worked and the way he practiced,” Cristobal said.
