When McNeese State let go head coach Lance Guidry after the 2018 season, Southeastern Louisiana coach Frank Scelfo was shocked at their decision. He immediately knew what his next move would be.
“I think McNeese made a huge mistake when they made the decision to make a change,” Scelfo said. “I picked up the phone and called him and I said, ‘I think it’s straight [B.S.] that they’re doing this.’”
Although Scelfo first called Guidry that December about the defensive coordinator position, he said he would hold the job open until February so Guidry could take time to decide.
