On the day he was introduced as the University of Miami's new football coach nearly 2 1/2 years ago, Mark Richt said: "My goal is to finish my coaching career at The U."
UM is trying to ensure that happens.
According to a source, the Hurricanes are working on an extension for Richt that would keep him at UM for years to come.
Richt originally joined UM on what was believed to be a six-year contract paying him more than $4 million annually.
