The COVID-19 pandemic has affected college football programs’ recruiting efforts with the NCAA mandating a “dead period” that’s still running. In-person contact cannot be made between college coaches and prospects, and most communication is taking place electronically.

At the University of Miami, the Hurricanes have only thrived. Thirteen of UM’s 21 commitments have given the Hurricanes their pledge since the middle of March when the novel coronavirus first put all college athletic activities on hold.

Among those, five-star American Heritage safety James Williams and Miami Palmetto defensive tackle Leonard Taylor committed on July 21 and Aug.
