UM’s Alex Toral, shown earlier this season against Georgia Tech, hit a grand slam on Friday, April 5, 2019, to lead the Canes over Florida State at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. AL DIAZ adiaz@miamiherald.com
University of Miami sophomore Alex Toral came into Friday’s opening game against Atlantic Coast Conference nemesis Florida State tied for the league lead in home runs, with 12.
Then, with bases loaded and one mighty swing, the 6-1, 220-pound lefty sent an 0-2 pitch by Drew Parrish over the Mark Light Field center field fence to become the ACC home run king — at least for the night — and lead Miami to a 11-0 rout over the Seminoles.
