Both Florida State and Miami played in a six-hour, 17-inning marathon game on Friday night and into Saturday morning. But a day later, only one of them seemed to sleepwalk through their next matchup.
The Hurricanes, looking to bounce back after Friday night’s heartbreaking one-run loss to the in-state and ACC rival Seminoles, were sloppy defensively, struggled to string together timely hits and worse, couldn’t get the kind of performance they needed from starter Andy Suarez.
Suarez gave up 12 runs, 10 of which were earned, in just three innings of work, putting Miami in a hole it couldn’t overcome in a 15-5 loss to FSU on Saturday at Mark Light Field.
