Former Miami Hurricane and Christopher Columbus High School pitcher, Andrew Suarez, got his first taste of the Majors last night. Suarez was selected in the second round of the Amateur Draft after playing 4 years at the University of Miami. He was twice named All-ACC Third Team and finished his Miami career with an 18-10 record and a 3.55 ERA and 223 strikeouts.
After spending his first three years in the minors, Andrew was finally given a shot due to the injury of Johnny Cueto. His first test came against a potent Arizona offense in front of the home fans.
