For the Hurricanes, no easy answers to third-down woes

They've shown they can move the ball. They've proven they can score points.

But as the Hurricanes prepare for their annual showdown against rival Florida State, there's one thing Miami's offense is still struggling to master — converting on their third-down chances.

It's been a troublesome issue for Miami in recent seasons and one the Hurricanes are still dealing with four games into the year. In 2014, the Hurricanes ranked 95th among FBS programs in third-down conversions (60 of 163), and in 2013, they ranked 96th, converting on 56 of 160 chances.

The numbers are even uglier this year, with Miami a dismal 13 of 53 on third down.
