For 'Canes, snapping bowl-win drought a big motivator

Tracy Howard is a hometown kid, a product of South Florida football.

Before he starred at Miramar High and became a coveted recruit that eventually landed at Miami, he watched the Hurricanes play. He knew all about the program's storied history and tradition.

But even with all his exposure to both the highs and lows of Miami football, it was still somewhat of a surprise when the senior realized the Hurricanes last bowl win came years ago, in 2006, when he and several of his teammates were still in middle school.

"It's definitely crazy that we didn't win one since 2006," Howard said.
