The Hurricanes pulled off a recruiting coup and secured one of the top cornerbacks in the nation on Thursday.
Five-star cornerback Cormani McClain committed to Miami on Thursday night, picking the Hurricanes over Alabama and Florida. The commitment bumped the Hurricanes’ class to No. 8 in 247Sports’ rankings.
McClain, a Lakeland native who is listed as the No. 2 player in the 2023 class and the No. 1 cornerback, chose Miami over two dozen other offers.
McClain is a star for Lakeland High. This season, he has eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and two pass breakups.
