Early Zack Collins homer sets tone in UM's 12-7 supers-opening win over B.C.

It was a matchup of each team's marquee player.

After Boston College pitcher Justin Dunn had dominated through two innings, Miami catcher Zack Collins felt it was the perfect time to show why he was the higher MLB draft pick.

And did he ever.

Collins crushed a three-run homer over the right-field fence in the third inning that served as the spark UM needed in its 12-7 victory Friday in the first game of the NCAA Super Regional. The Hurricanes, who also got a strong, 7 2/3 innings effort from pitcher Michael Mediavilla, can close out the best-of-3 series Saturday at noon and clinch a berth in the College World Series for a second straight year.
