At the start of each season in any sport, fans must learn new names as players cycle in and out of the program. This year, however, spectators will learn a new identity that a star is now going by.
“My name is now Dewan Antonio Hernandez,” said the junior forward who was previously known as Dewan Huell.
Hernandez said at media day the change is to honor his mother, Christina Fernandez, who kept her maiden name.
“My mom,” Hernandez said, “has always been there for me, whenever I needed her, since I was born.
