Miami Hurricanes junior defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin had a breakout season in 2018. Playing in the shadow of second-team All-American defensive tackle Gerald Willis and defensive end Joe Jackson, Garvin led Miami defensive linemen with 60 tackles and was second on Miami with 17 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
In 2019, the focus of opposing offensive game plans will begin with blocking Garvin. Garvin said earlier this week that it will not make a difference. He stated that he was often double and triple-teamed in 2018. Garvin will lead a Miami defensive line that hopes to duplicate leading the nation in TFLs in 2018.
