It all felt right, so back-home good. Mario Cristobal stood more than hour after his introductory news conference, throwing a football to his son, laughing with former Hurricanes teammates and talking to media, just talking, trading stories about this ground he stood on.
“Jimmy Johnson had a deal with the devil,’’ the new Miami coach said of his first Miami coach. “It’d be pouring rain across the street in a way to cancel practice, but it’d never rain on our practices. The rain never got here.”
Time moves on. The place Cristobal now stood, once that practice field, was part of Miami’s indoor practice facility.
