The 2018 College Football Hall of Fame ballot is out and the Sunshine State is well-represented among the 173 former players and 37 coaches to comprise this year’s candidate pool.
Only 987 players of the more than 5 million individuals who’ve played college football since 1869 have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Criteria for a player to be eligible is one, they most have received first-team all-American recognition and two, they must be 10 seasons removed from their final collegiate appearance. Candidates must also have played in the past 50 years.
A coach is eligible three seasons after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years of age.
