When Michael Brewer was hurt in the Hokies’ season-opening loss to Ohio State on Sept. 7, the expectation was that the Virginia Tech quarterback would miss 4-5 weeks after needing surgery to repair his broken collarbone.
That meant from the start that a return against Miami could be possible. And this week, the Hurricanes have the unenviable task of preparing for both Brewer and backup Brenden Motley, who has led Virginia Tech to a 3-2 record during his starts.
Before last Friday’s game against N.C. State, there was plenty of speculation Brewer could return against the Wolfpack after he participated in practice and, according to reports out of Virginia, was listed as “probable” on the Hokies’ injury report.
