Before signing with the Miami Hurricanes, Dejan Vasiljevic (pronounced: Vass-EEl-uh-vitch) was quite the globetrotter having moved to Australia at age 6 after living in Canada. As he got older he wasn’t a known name in most American basketball circles (and one that is difficult to pronounce too!) Known as “DJ” he exploded onto the international basketball scene in high school as he led Australia to a silver medal at the 2014 FIBA 17U World Championships. There he scored 29 points in a close championship loss against the United States and made the All-Tournament team. The 6’2” guard developed a reputation for filling it up from all over the court and quickly garnered high major offers from schools like Miami, Stanford and LSU.
