All season long, the Hurricanes have tried to solve their discipline issues.
Penalties have long been a problem, which has led Miami’s coaching staff to come up with some creative punishments for players whistled in games.
Still, the Hurricanes can’t seem to find a solution and Saturday, they were whistled a school-record and ACC-record 23 times. That cost them 194 yards, a number interim coach Larry Scott wants to see greatly reduced this week when the Hurricanes host Virginia in another crucial Coastal Division game.
But on Tuesday, as Miami returned to practice, Scott made it clear he understands there are degrees of penalties and he doesn’t want the Hurricanes, who at an average of 109 yards per game are the most penalized team in the ACC, to stop playing with the kind of passion they showed against the Blue Devils.
