Kevin Steele has coached at Kyle Field more than a half-dozen times, by his count.
The former Baylor head coach and SEC defensive coordinator has learned how to communicate in the environment when 100,000 hollering Aggies are making normal speech difficult.
“Scream,” the UM defensive coordinator said, “a lot.”
The No. 13 Hurricanes (2-0) will have to deal with that noise on Saturday night as they kick off against the No. 24 Aggies (1-1) at 9 p.m EST (8 p.m. in College Station, Texas) at Kyle Field in their biggest game of the fledging season.
“It gets so loud — and I’ve been there on the sideline with headsets — that you can’t hear in the headsets,” Steele said.
