Miami Hurricanes backup quarterback Evan Shirreffs announced Monday on Twitter that he will transfer out of the program.
Shirreffs, who just finished his redshirt sophomore season with the Hurricanes but finished his undergraduate degree at the university, served as Miami’s backup for the entire season behind starter Malik Rosier. He played in three games — against Bethune-Cookman, North Carolina and Pittsburgh — completing 2 of 7 passes for 16 yards.
I want to thank Coach Richt, the staff, and my teammates for an incredible 3 years at the University of Miami. I have decided to seek opportunities as a graduate transfer for my final 2 years of eligibility.
