The Miami Hurricanes got a stellar start from freshman pitcher Alejandro Rosario, and one run was all they needed to get past South Alabama, 1-0, in their Gainesville Regional opener on Friday night.
Doubly as good for the regional No. 2 seed Hurricanes, top-seeded Florida has to work its way up through the losers’ bracket in the double-elimination, four-team regional.
UM advances in the winners’ bracket to face No. 4 seed South Florida at 4 p.m. on Saturday after the Bulls pulled off a 5-3 upset of the Gators earlier Friday. Third-seeded South Alabama now has an elimination game against the host Gators.
