St. Thomas Aquinas four-star cornerback Al Blades Jr. honored his late father, a Miami Hurricanes football alum beloved by fans, by announcing his commitment to UM on Father’s Day.
The 6-foot, 170-pound rising senior took to Twitter to let his decision be known on Sunday night.
Al Blades Sr. was a standout safety for the ’Canes and was All-Big East first team as a senior in 2000. Going undrafted in 2001, he spent two years with the San Francisco 49ers before he died in a car crash in March 2003. Blades Jr. was 3 years old at the time.
