After rough end to 2017, Hurricanes return to practice field for spring drills

Last season, as good as it was at times for Miami, didn’t end the way the Hurricanes wanted — and players and coaches have made it clear they couldn’t wait to move beyond the frustration of losing three straight late.

The Hurricanes had one of their first chances to begin that process Tuesday morning when they took the field for their first of 13 scheduled spring workouts that will extend into next month.

A few observations from the brief 20-minute window that reporters were able to observe this morning:

*Hurricanes coach Mark Richt has said that while competition for starting jobs is open and no position is guaranteed, he has also said that quarterback Malik Rosier — who started all 13 games last season — enters spring practice atop the depth chart.
