Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and tight end Will Mallory were in a similar place heading into the Miami Hurricanes’ matchup against N.C. State last Saturday.
Van Dyke struggled with getting off to good starts in UM’s previous two conference losses to Virginia and North Carolina, while Mallory had yet to play at the level he had hoped to in Miami’s first six games.
So during the week leading into the Hurricanes’ game against the Wolfpack, Van Dyke had a heart-to-heart conversation with the fourth-year right end.
“Will hasn’t started the year like he wanted to. The first couple of games, I didn’t start like I wanted to,” Van Dyke recalled.
