When they all started for the Miami football team in the season opener as Freshman Head Coach Mark Richt posed the question if that had ever happened before. It would be difficult to find an entire unit, much less specifically a linebacking core that all started as Freshmen in their first game.
Playing in Quarterman’s shadow, Pinckney has shined on his own in his two seasons with the Hurricanes. He joined Quarterman and Miami wide receiver Ahmmon Richards on the 2016 True Freshman All-American team. The team only names three linebackers. It’s remarkable that Miami had two of them in the same season.
