MIAMI GARDENS — They didn’t make it easy on themselves, but the Miami Hurricanes finally got the decisive win over an FBS opponent they’ve been looking for all season with their 38-26 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.
Coming off its first lost to rival Florida State in years and a week in which coach Manny Diaz’s job security was once again in question after Blake James departed from UM as its athletic director, the Hurricanes scored touchdowns on their first four drives and jumped out to three separate 18-point leads with less than 10 minutes to go in the third quarter.
