After choosing to opt out of his contract with Miami in June, Willie Reed will now be joining the Los Angeles Clippers next season. According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes the deal will net Reed $1.5 million dollars over a one year contract.
This should be no surprise for Heat fans. After drafting Bam Adebayo, many assumed Reed would be leaving and Bam would be taking over his role. Reed was solid in a backup role for Miami last season averaging 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He stepped up often in key moments for the Heat last season, especially in the latter half.
