When The Sports Post asked me to write a season-opening feature on the Minnesota Timberwolves for our NBA section, I was excited to do it. I had spent six years working for the Wolves in the mid-to-late-90s, and the team now appeared on the verge of turning around a decade of futility.
The Wolves had gotten the No. 1 overall draft choice in the 2015 draft for the first time in team history, and it finally appeared that the organization had climbed out of the morass of bad luck and mistakes that haunted it from near it’s inception in 1989.
