Rodney McGruder finished just two points behind the final player named to the 2016-17 NBA All-Rookie Second Team in the voting results released by the NBA.
The Miami Heat’s rookie sensation was a big part of the team’s historic turnaround in the second half of the season as a starter and voters took noticed, with McGruder receiving 61 points, including seven first-place votes, to lead all rookies who received votes but did not make the First or the Second Team. McGruder in fact had 25 more points than the next rookie, Caris LeVert (Brooklyn Nets), on the list.
