There is no doubt that Hassan Whiteside’s stats read impressively, but there have been some questions about how well the Miami Heat center fits with the team.
Whiteside is averaging 12.5 points and 10.6 rebounds in about 28 minutes per game, and he’s leading the NBA in blocks by a wide margin. However, his on/off stats are alarming. According to nbawowy.com, the Heat are allowing 1.053 points per possession when Whiteside is on the court. Without Whiteside, Miami’s defense allows just 0.954 points per possession.
Whiteside’s apparent inability to fit in with Miami’s goals of a faster pace and more ball movement (he has five total assists this season) has led many to speculate on the possibility that the Heat may try to move the impending free agent.
