Jarnell Stokes’ time in South Beach was short, as the Miami Heat traded the young power forward to the New Orleans Pelicans Thursday in exchange for a protected draft pick, the team confirmed after multiple reports.
The move saves the Heat about $2.4 million when considering the cap and luxury tax.
After already trading Chris Andersen and without many assets remaining, this could be the Heat’s final move before the deadline.
Erik Spoelstra says that Stokes trade was about flexibility. Says he is "not anticipating" another trade.

Stokes spent time with both the Heat and their D-League affiliate the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
