After reports that the Miami Heat and center Keith Benson have agreed on a non-guaranteed contract, the club made the signing official Tuesday. The two parties had to wait to receive formal FIBA clearance after Benson played overseas last season before they could officially put ink to paper.
Benson has spent the past two seasons playing professionally in Belarus, China, Lithuania and Estonia while previously playing in Italy and the Philippines.
He split last season between Neptunas Klaipeda of the Lithuanian Basketball League and BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn of the Estonian Basketball League. He appeared in 26 games (eight starts) for Neptunas, averaging 5.
