Lowe: Heat Make Chalmers, Andersen Available ‘For Nothing’

The Miami Heat are about $13 million over the projected luxury tax threshold, and are facing a steep tax bill associated with the repeater penalty after dipping into the luxury tax four of the last five seasons. Something that would add up to upwards of $30 million beyond the player payroll.

Obviously, owner Micky Arison would like to avoid that. The organization has been rumored to be shopping Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen. Grantland’s Zach Lowe, as he writes in his latest column, is hearing the same thing.
